Ringling’s 155-acre Winter Quarters opened to the public in 1927 for a small admission fee. It soon became one of Florida’s first tourist attractions, drawing more than 100,000 visitors by 1940. After 32 years in Sarasota, the winter quarters closed in 1959 and moved to Venice.
